Damn Salmon Weirdos!
The Craic' was mighty good in that joint I've gotta say. So good that i wound up getting some crappy jobs around town to support my
new found addiction and eventually the sweet as gig of workng there by the grace of God. This hostel (bias aside) was the best out of all my travels, one of a
kind. It's a concoction of owners, staff, hostelers, and the red couch (now a ghost) that makes the place so special.
My Irish home away from home.
I'm a bit biased about this place as I lived here for three months and became friends with the staff. This small,
42 bed hostel is usually busy with regulars who tend to drag the backpackers out to the pubs at night. This hostel
is very hard to leave, and you might find yourself extending your stay in Galway as a result. This hostel is located
just a short walk from the main shopping/pubbing/clubbing areas of town, and has a beautiful lake behind it.
Security consists of a doorbell and a small office safe. Since the staff screen guests, you don't feel nervous
about leaving your stuff out. The Salmon Weir is clean, friendly, cozy, and I can't recommend it enough! Be sure
to sign the 'Book of Craic' before you leave... I did the cover.
