Camping Alba D'Oro
Via Triestina 214b - (041) 541 5102
Fun, cheap place outside of Venice.
It's about a half hour bus ride to get out to the campsite and it's located under the flightpath
of a nearby airport making for some early morning wakeup calls from loud planes but besides the location,
the place is actually pretty good. I stayed in a three bed cottage type thing and only have one other person with
me in there. It'd probably be pretty cramped with three. There was a spotless toilet and shower
in the cabin and a heater/air con unit as well. The on-site restaurant did some good grub and the bar/club thing
went off the night I was there. Cheap shots... they are evil! This is a Busabout drop and I think I saw
Top Deck and Contiki buses as well meaning there will always be a few people around up for a big night if that's
what you're looking for. The bus into Venice is free and I think runs hourly but the last one back to the campsite
is at around 10pm so if you're planning a night out in Venice you'll have to either sleep in the streets or take
a cab back.
Great place to camp.
An easy bus ride from Venice, this place was great fun. The camp's swimming pool and bar provided a great place to meet other
travelers and drink, dance and sing your way in the early hours. They have tent-cabins that can be rented if you don't have a tent. It can be tough
to find budget accommodation in Venice so the short ride was definately worth it. It was also nice to relax out in the "country" after a long
day in crowded (yet very beautiful) Venice.
