Live In Pubs/Hotels
There are loads of live in jobs all around Europe from country pubs in Scotland to chalets in the Alps. Conditions and pay will
vary, but usually you'll live at your place of work and be given meals while being paid at a reduced rate to cover the costs. In the UK
you'll usually be paid between £150-180/week with your food and accommodation paid for.
It can be a good way to save money but can also be a rip off if you don't specify how many hours you'll be working. It's not uncommon for
people to take live in jobs thinking they're getting a fair deal only to find that they'll be working 50 to 60 hour weeks while being fed
greasy pub food each night.
If you are lucky enough to get a good placement though with nice bosses, live in work can be a great experience. Many positions are based in
small towns that you wouldn't normally see. It's a fantastic way to meet some locals and get a real feeling for the country you're in.
Experience often isn't required and many places like to employ couples. I know STA Travel has a program which will guarantee people a
job in a pub, but I'm not sure how good an idea this is as these types of jobs are pretty easy to come by anyways. Check out
