Lovely location to be stranded in... and you will be.
This hostel is a bit off the beaten path between Surfer's Paradise and Byron Bay and is a welcome relief from the
mayhem that is Australia's east coast. If I remember correctly, you get off the bus at Tweed Heads and the hostel
manager will pick you up in their bus if you arrange it beforehand. The hostel is a fair drive away, but the setting is fantastic
and the facilities pretty good. It's laid out like a motel, but there's a TV room, games room, and a kitchen to be able to
mingle with other travellers. When I was there they had a BBQ where they provided all the salads and you just had to bring a hunk
of meat and they'd cook it up for you. They let you use their boogie boards for free and the beach is practically right across the road.
The only downside to this place is the fact that, though they'll gladly pick you up, they won't drop you off back in Tweed Heads.
Being so far out of the way, I'd expect this to be the case and was shocked when I was given instructions from the local bus stop.
Guess I was used to being pampered in Oz, the land where you never actually carry your backpack! Oh well.
