Escape the tourist trap.
If you're a bit sick of the hectic pace of the east coast and want to really chill out, then this
place is ideal. It's a few metres from the Noosa River on a tree-covered, wildlife-filled 16 acres
of beautiful land. The comfy couches surrounding the cozy campfire (lit every night) are perfect
for relaxing with a drink and a smoke to chat or sing with the few others who've discovered this
paradise. Because all of the buildings are made of army cloth and treetrunks, there are bound to
be a few beasties lurking around, and it's not the cleanest in the world. The beds themselves are
clean, and the kitchen is too, but the toilets are those dodgy worm-composting ones and not
for the faint of heart. The doors of the rooms don't lock, but you won't feel afraid for your stuff
in this ultra laid back environment. There's a safe in the office though for anything of value, for
peace of mind. Andy and Pete, the owners, are nice guys and former travellers. They fell in love with
the place and stayed, working and building most of it themselves before buying it off of the former
owner who often returns for a few drinks. The rest of the staff are usually travellers. Pete's a bit
loud when he's drunk and goes on long rants, but pretty harmless and good-hearted. It's really easy
to meet people here as everyone gathers around the fires at night. They used to do yummy meals, but
I'm not sure if they still do as the scary cook/manager has thankfully quit. It calls itself a bushcamp,
but it has internet, TV, loads of videos, hot showers, and does rides into town usually three times a
day for food, booze or the beach. There's camping here as well and You can swim in the
river and they have great canoe trips! My favourite place in Oz! For more info, check out the
website I did for them.
