Plane
Flights in Oz have been falling in price, despite the collapse of Anset in 2001. This is largely due to the
expansion of Richard Branson's Vergin Blue, a Brisbane-based discount airline. When I was there in 2001 destinations
were limited to Townsville, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and a few other places. Since then destinations have been added
to pretty much cover all of Australia from Darwin to Perth and several smaller cities in between. In response, Qantas have
begun offering discount fares as well making flying an excellent way for backpackers to get around the country quickly
and cheaply.
